So. I deleted the project and created a new one but the same thing happened.

Were you able to enter the new project and work some time in it and import media, or can you not enter any project at all?

This should be investigated in detail.

Independently of this, I recommend that you regularly create manual project backups for the future as a precaution.

With the backup, you can easily restore your project yourself (but with the editing state at the time the backup was created). Because the backup would have to be created at the time of an error-free project, this variant is too late for your project.
Often there are other possibilities, but they are rarely so simple.

Two crashes in such a short time with damaged projects should be investigated more closely. More information is needed. Firstly, the ZIP file is still missing, as discussed on page 1 of this thread.
Also the Lightworks version is important to know (14.5 or 14.6 beta, which beta)?
Computer details like CPU, GPU (graphics card), RAM?
Were effects used?

Did you edit the media into a sequence before you tried deleting anything? Until you do that you cannot "erase certain parts" at all.

If you're uncertain about what any of those sentences means I strongly recommend that you check out some of the tutorials that you'll find here.

So I understand that the ZIP file is missing and that I need to create backups but I don't know the computer details since the Mac I have wasn't mine until a month ago. Effect were used in the first project but not in the second. I am in version 14.5 (where can I install the update because it doesn't appear for me). I created the media into a sequence and it still kicked me out.

You need to be aware that the "update" isn't an update at all, but test software. It's probably better that we try and work out what's wrong here before we add another unknown to the problem.

Creating backups when you have what is obviously an unstable system is a little pointless - all you will be doing at the moment is creating backups of potentially faulty projects. The suggestion that schrauber made is a good idea - in fact, really, essential - but until we work out what's wrong let's put that on the back burner. So let's go through the steps of making a zip file of your error log first.

  1. Navigate to the log file using Finder. You already know where that is, but for clarity it's at /Users/USER ACCOUNT/Lightworks/Logs.
  2. Control-click on that file (or right click if you have a two button mouse or better).
  3. The pop-up menu that appears will have the option "Compress" then the log file name. Click on it.
  4. With a log file the compression process should be quite quick. When it's complete you should have a new file called error.zip.
  5. Post that zip file here.

Then we will be able to see what's going wrong.

Just saying: it's unlikely to be a bug in Lightworks. 14.5 is one of the most stable releases that we've had in quite a while.

Just to check
1. I go to the finder app and search logs which will show up the error.log file, then I click on it that will send me to the Console program
2. I Control-click on the first thing I see
3. A window(pop-up) menu should appear and I click compress
4.Then I wait for the Zip file to be created
5. I upload it here

You got it, except you need to re-read step 1. I didn't say that you should click on the log file. You should right click or control click on it (step 2).

Weren't there people saying that OSX is easy to use? I wouldn't call that a small problem, but a show stopper.

See if this discussion helps solving this one: discussions.apple.com/thread/5012526

I found it but how do I upload it (do I copy paste it)?

No. Edit your previous post and you will notice a rectangle with an "Add File" button beside it. Click on that button and you will then be able to navigate to the zip file. Once you've loaded it, click submit and the zip file will be attached to your post.
