Welcome to the forum.

V14.5 supports phone footage, so it mat be worth checking it can directly import your phone video. If not, try using Handbrake, rather than the VLC. this sticky mat assist you: www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=23&id=166802&Itemid=81

I've watched the videos using every other form of media player I have. The issue is only on lightworks.

Quite likely. Lightworks isn't a media player, it's a non-linear editor. Unlike a media player it treats video and audio as independent media streams because it must. If there is anything unusual or unexpected about the two you may see the result that you're getting as well as sound sync issues. Try briandrys' suggestion. That should fix the problem for you because it will convert your media into an edit friendly format.

VLC is a fairly good media player, but many members of this forum have reported about trouble when using it as converter.

However, this shows an audio format which is know as MP2. Not commonly used in MP4 containers with AVC video nowadays, but it should work properly, if properly created.

Would you mind sharing, a short piece of your phone recordings with audio, 20 seconds or so, converted with the same VLC settings you've used for the video above?
It's better to travel well than to arrive...
