The lightworks console is not constrained by keyboard commands. I don't know of a comparable keyboard function.
I have the console jog function assigned to the shuttle pro, which behaves differently from other command options and does not behave the same when assigned to a key press.
Reverse jog, 1 detent off center initiates a continuous slow subframe reverse crawl on unjoined audio track trims. I don't know if this is a bug or if it is related to the real Lightworks console. I can't really tell if it actually executes a subframe trim, but when rejoined the playhead jumps to the nearest frame boundary. I don't get subframe error messages using this.
However the behavior leads me to believe that subframe audio trim might be a feature of the Lightworks console, which is not a key repeat device.

I don't believe that you can achieve subframe editing with the console, but I believe that in the early stages there was some discussion about providing that functionality.

In Avid you can within certain constraints, I don't know about Premiere, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if Vegas allowed it given its history. In my experience it really is something that picture editors usually prefer to avoid doing.

I'll ask my in house guru Jim Kee. He used to sell and train editors on Lightworks systems. Maybe he will remember.
Not to say that would apply to the current development.

I suspect that subframe cuts are only allowed temporarily / unjoin.
What works on a subframe basis are audio nodes and effect keyframes.

The question in my mind is if an apparent subframe audio trim with the jog wheel gets moved to the nearest frame head or if the trim gets executed at the frame head. I can't confirm that either way yet.

I'd be interested in knowing the fact on that.

Thanks Hugly,
I viewed the video but there is no sound. But I can see that the problem is similar to mine. I then on mine, tried to move a cut using the arrow right, arrow left but nothing happened. I could move it with the shift and also with "L" key but not with the "J" key. Moving the cut by this method did not bring up any warning message. But then nor does moving the cut with the mouse, although it does not seem to be working very well. The warning message comes up when inserting a cut, whether stationary or on the fly. Also the "S" key has become erratic and mostly does not work, but it is not the keyboard.
But do not worry if it cannot be solved, you have helped review the way I am doing things. Since my project mainly involves the use of text, I can do all I want using the Boris Graffiti FX without video tracks and that should cut down on the size of my videos at the end and it is a great deal easier. But it does mean redoing a fair few things.
Nevertheless I do not mind continuing to find the problem/s.

Thanks again.

Neil,

Thank you for the feedback.

As you can see, all here are trying to find out what's the cause of the problem and what those mysterious sub-frame edits are. Still, at least for me, it isn't clear what happens exactly on your system.

Based on the known so far, it's likely that the message is a simple warning indicating that Lightwokrs has corrected the position of a cut dynamically to frame boundaries - nothing to worry about, except that you have to click to close the message window.

The fact that I'm not able to force the message on my system here, whatever I do even in projects created with Auto and Mixed Rates, makes me think that it could be related to timing problems caused by low computer performance, or to specific steps in a workflow I've never used, or to footage with variable frame rate in the timeline, but all that's just guessing.

What exactly are you doing when the message pops up.
It's better to travel well than to arrive...

The problems of Neil I also had when I created the project with Autoframerate according to the linking workflow.

If you want to create a new project, avoid the automatic frame rate setting. Then you should not get these problems.

I mentioned the problem in the beta forum, since you now also use the beta version, you could summarize your experiences there.

Thanks Schrauber,
I have started redoing my work using Beta with 24 FS. I find that it is faster opening up and I am having no problem with editing. One thing I note however is that when copying a clip/s to another project, it can only be moved hence I have to make a copy within the same bin and then move one to the other project. Not a big deal but I thought the original "copy to" could have been retained.
I assure you I will never use the auto frame rate again. Thanks again helping me with this.

Still exists.
It was renamed "Add to".

By the way:
Since today there is LW 14.5 RC1
