That might sound a bit nerdy, but I'm frequently working with MP4s of long duration, 1 hour and above. Is there a chance to speed up the building of wave forms with simple modifications to the code? Not by increasing the number of tasks which read and write simultaneously from/to the file system, but by improved parallel processing on each single media file, i.e. starting with reading bigger chunk of audio into the buffers and improved parallel processing on that chunks?
It's better to travel well than to arrive...

+1... to add to this, the fact that it is "all or nothing" (ie. the waveform doesn't display until every second is generated) is also a nuisance for longer clips, or complex projects, as you have no indication that Lightworks is generating the waveform.

Having the waveform appear in chunks as it is generated can also let you dive right in if you what you need in the audio is at the beginning (say, like a clap/slate) rather than having to wait for the entire clip.
