This might sound a bit nerdy, but I find for use in macros it would be helpful to have a command which deletes the clipboard content to zero length, i.e. inserting/replacing from a deleted clipboard does nothing.

For example, if this macro is executed with timeline marker on timeline start, the recent (and unrelated) clipboard content is inserted, instead of nothing:

Name=Add Leading Black
Description=Shifts timeline start to the position of the timleine marker
Commands=Enable all tracks,Unmark,Mark,Start,Copy to clipboard,Clipboard Insert,Remove

This would fix it:

Name=Add Leading Black
Description=Shifts timeline start to the position of the timleine marker
Commands=Enable all tracks,Unmark,Mark,Start,Clipboard Delete,Copy to clipboard,Clipboard Insert,Remove

Possible to implement something like "Clipboard Delete", without moving heavy rocks around?

You're kidding aren't you? You really want to remove one of the security functions built in to Lightworks since day one? While you're at it, why not provide a means of removing backup history and milestones? You could even add something to search out archives and kill them too while you're at it. Or why not just fix the obviously broken command, Copy to clipboard?

Or you could simply rewrite your macro so that it works. This is one of three ways to do the same thing that I could immediately think of. And it doesn't require clearing the clipboard.

Name=Add Leading Black
Description=Shifts timeline start to the position of the timeline marker
Commands=Enable all tracks,Unmark,Mark,Start,Delete,Clipboard Insert,Clipboard Insert & Next,Mark,Start,Remove

Perhaps a more sensible request would be to provide an insert black command. It shouldn't be hard to implement and wouldn't require a macro or a need to delete the clipboard, which is part of the undo mechanism.

Good grief!

Just the current content of the clipboard, not the clipboard itself.

No doubt jwrl understands that.

Perhaps not all users understand the usefulness of the clipboard and the 'n' number of events it holds.

I certainly do. It's why I responded to that absurd request in the way that I did. You actually expect the Lightworks developers to provide a function for you that has the ability to jeopardise edit security because you can't write a macro? Give me a break.

And if I sound angry, it's because I am. I'm actually furious.

If this can't implemented without corrupting the system, it isn't worth it. So what? Was just an idea, no reason to risk a heart attack.

It may be best if 'ideas' were subject to a rigorous 'what-could-possibly-go-wrong' test before posting; otherwise they are no more than 'thought bubbles'

I still think it's a good idea, but as mentioned no need to risk a heart attack.

And, out!

It is a thoroughly bad idea.

If you really must have it, write a macro to do it. It isn't hard to implement with existing tools, just extremely dumb.

It is not.
I'm not employed by or officially represent Editshare or Lightworks. I'm just a Lightworks user.
