Replace the word 'Repair' with 'Relink' in 'Media.Repair' [feature] - by: hugly https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221324&Itemid=81#221324 https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221324&Itemid=81#221324
The function 'Media.Repair' is supposed to create link files if they are missing, due to deleted clips, damaged link files, missing media locations, or whatever else the cause may be.

The need of repairing something associates that it's damaged. Consequently, 'Media,Repair' associates that media are damaged, but that isn't the case. Not media are damaged, but some link files cannot be found. Link file are internal data structures, nothing a user is, or should be, aware of. Beside of that, the internal logic isn't documented anywhere and it has issues. Even if no link file is missing, as soon as more than one clip is selected in the content manager, it shows 'Media.Repair', which is wrong information, because nothing has to or will be repaired, the app just relinks to the new location.

To reduce the confusion, please consider replacing all instances of the menu entry 'Media.Repair' with 'Media.Relink'. After executing the function, if link files are missing, the dialogue can tell.]]>

Export - Sound off and Blurry - by: mewsio80 https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221318&Itemid=81#221318 https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221318&Itemid=81#221318
I've been working on a music video for about 3 weeks. There are about 6 layers of video adn the audio track.
All footage was filmed in HD and exporting until this week produced a good quality result.
For some reason I've noticed 2 strange things when exporting.

1) The clip used for the first verse is always slightly behind in the export. This is despite it looking find in Lightworks. Weirdly the rest of the clips align fine. Cannot understand why. Am I best re-adding the clip and editing back in?

2) The biggest issue is that in the last few days the exports are suddenly very pixelated. I've tweaked all the export settings and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I need to have the project completed by Sun so am wondering if I have to cut my loses and start again!?! Although how will I know this won't happen again....

So far I've added 1 new SFX from the the LWKS website. Could this be the cause?
I've since installed LWKS over the top of the current install. None of these seem to be the issue.]]>

Transcoding after import isn't available on a selection of clips [issue] - by: hugly https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221270&Itemid=81#221270 https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221270&Itemid=81#221270

With multiple selected clips, the 'Media' menu under 'Bin Commands' shows that, no entry to transcode:

I cannot imagine that this is intended.]]>

HEVC frame jumps and duplicate sections [issue] - by: hugly https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221269&Itemid=81#221269 https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221269&Itemid=81#221269
The titles of those discussion don't point to the essential problem, which is frame jumps and duplicate sections with HEVC. With the material shared in #220805, I made a screen recording which shows it clearly:

Skipping in the timeline with the mouse forces the issue. When repeating with a newly imported clip, the positions of the frame jumps are not random, they are reproducible, maybe related to special frame types, perhaps keyframes?

I'm not sure if this problem is limited to h.265/HEVC. I can well imagine that it applies to h.264/AVC as well, under certain conditions.]]>

Enhancement request: wording (typography) – replace two dots with ellipses… - by: aralbalkan https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221244&Itemid=81#221244 https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221244&Itemid=81#221244
Also, other minor typographical points:

  • Remove spaces before colons.
  • Replace :- (colon-dash) with : (colon).

These are little things but they do count towards how the app feels. (I’m probably a unique case but I did actually go through all the strings in the wording panel and fix these for myself.) ]]>

I updated my Lightworks today.

I don't know what happened.

I guess it could be that I took all of my clips and put them together and added sound effects, and then exported the video and made a new project to add music.]]>

Make.Sync/Print ignore track status [issue] - by: hugly https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221172&Itemid=81#221172 https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221172&Itemid=81#221172
Deleting tracks prior to making syncs/prints is the obvious workaround. However, a selection similar to 'Make.Copy' would be surely more convenient.

Edit: Just detected that when making Syncs based on V or A tracks the disabled track appears disabled in the sync. This does not apply when making syncs of the whole sequence or a marked section of it. The logic takes some time to reverse engineer and, even if it would make some sense, it's doubtlessly difficult to describe, in a manual for instance.]]>

It's only 6 minutes long, only has about 30 source clips, at 30 fps, but playback of my sequence is all but impossible. It'll start playing but then the display will freeze (although the red marker continues to move forward). If I try to move frame-by-frame, it takes Lightworks a full 9 seconds to bring up the next frame!

I just installed the latest version, 64 bit. My computer has 6 GB of RAM (5.19 usable). Thank you!]]>

I need to edit short videos that are recorded by GIF Brewery 3 (.mp4).

I have been doing this for a long time without any problems, however, since last week, in the old version and in the new one, I can't do it anymore.

Some videos are corrupted right after they are added:

The strangest thing is that it happens with a few videos. Others that were recorded with the same program, the same size, etc., work correctly.

Copying a marked selection still does not work properly - by: SchwobaSeggl https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221017&Itemid=81#221017 https://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=14&id=221017&Itemid=81#221017
E.g. I got a seq with 1 FX track, 2 video tracks and 8 audio tracks. V1 and V2 are enabled, the rest is disabled. My copy then holds an empty V1 and an empty V2 and a disabled but filled A1 and that's about it.

The "Make Copy" feature is rendered useless. Workaround is to copy all tracks (not just enabled), then edit the newly created sequence and delete everything from it you don't need. What a hassle. I know there now is something like a copy paste feature that is more like other NLEs but it gives me reason for other bug reports so I'm not using it right now.

Issues like this were known in the last beta, now we've also got them in LWKS 2020.1 Pro 122068 on Ubuntu 18.04 (which is what I'm using.)]]>
