I have an hour-long video of a lecture that used a lavalier mic. About every ten seconds, the speaker moves from his left foot to his right foot. Ten seconds later, he moves back. Standing on his right foot, there is a lot of background static as though the mic is too far away from the receiver. On his left foot, it is fine. I do not have the ability to export the file into Audacity to fix it. Are there any effects in Lightworks that I could use? I tried just applying random options but, unsurprisingly, that didn't help.

I really appreciate any help!]]>

General video editing question -- what's different about NCIS? - by: syscrusher
Every time I watch the popular TV show "NCIS", I can't help but notice that there is something unusual about its video production. The first time I noticed this, I thought it must be something about the TV where I was viewing it, because it was in a doctor's office and not my own TV. But I'm observing the same...difference...on another TV that is more familiar, and it persists across several episodes. Also, the other programs and commercials on this same TV don't seem to be unusual to me.

As a non-professional, I'm at a loss to say whether it's something in the color grading, or in the choice of lenses in the cameras, or the pace of cuts and transitions in editing, or what -- but it's there, and it's driving me nuts trying to figure this out.

I don't find it "better" or "worse" than other shows -- just oddly different.

Anyone out there with some pro experience: Is there something about the way they shoot and edit NCIS that is unusual in the industry?

Again, sorry for the slight deviation from topic, which I hope might be forgiven because whatever technique they're using should also be applicable to Lightworks. Thanks if anyone can help me sleep at night by clearing this mystery up.]]>

Problem importing AAC audio from AVCHD video - by: doberlin
I am using Lightworks (110128) - Oct 25 2018, on MacOS.

I have imported an MOV clip that I got from my Sony camcorder. The video imported correctly. The audio in the file is 5.1 AAC. In the timeline, I see 6 audio channels, but they are grey. When I play the clip, I don't hear any audio.

I have successfully imported other MOV files with AAC audio, but these only have one channel. The audio plays correctly for these clips, and they show yellow in the timeline.

I'm tempted to try to extract the tracks and bring them into my project separately, but I'm hoping that someone might know about this problem and be able to advise me on how to best work around it.

Thanks very much for any help!]]>

How do I add a frontal image to the video? - by: Pappetsu
How do I do it? (did you get it?)

For example, when you go to youtube or vimeo the videos in thumbnails have a still image or a still frame. Some just have a random frame but others seem to have been intentionally chosen.]]>

bug reproducing edit sequence - by: angdrake13 Lightworks on Linux Tue, 23 Apr 2019 12:56:44 +0000 Huge memory leak specific to Linux - by: Benedani
However, on Windows, Lightworks works fine - memory usage stays at around 1GB. I've confirmed this by loading the project on Windows and trying to export it - it exported fine even though I have Firefox with Messenger open and Windows generally uses more memory.
It seems like Lightworks cleans unused memory on Windows, though this doesn't hold true on Linux Mint (which is based on Ubuntu), and probably also for that Manjaro user here.
This happens with basically any project.
Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?]]>

I'm an elementary school music teacher dabbling with lightworks because someone donated a green screen and I can't resist playing with new toys. I'm trying to make music videos. When I am in edit mode, the audio lags about .5 seconds behind. This isn't usually a problem because I can see where I want to be in the wave form (for timing transitions or whatever), but it is getting increasingly annoying. I'm wondering whether I can do something to fix or improve this issue.

I'm running Windows 10 on a quad core i5 (I believe) with 8 gigs ram.

Thank you!]]>
