I think it is more likely that LW isn't capable of editing effectively H264 type files... some other editing applications are capable of editng H264... I don't think it is so much the codecs fault (...although it is kind of lame that almost all the HD video produced today is H264 format and yet LW isn't capapble of editing the type)... but moreso that LW just hasn't been developed to use the H264 format (...which... btw, shouldn't be unexpected since H264 is a difficult codec to try and edit in).

I have tried every option to import an H264 file... and, every import (or link) attempt to convert the cineform file has failed.

On my system... import doesn't work with Cineform file formats.

As for exporting... same problem... except... I have never been able to export ANY edited video... LW crashes in every export attempt instance.

NO exporting capability is a deal breaker for me...

I just did a import test with 7D h264 material. On my system it works to transcode to quicktime DVCpro100.

Right now testing transcoding to avi mpg 1 intra frame HD 100mbit.

Joe M: Have you tried to use native clips from a camera or is all your material in Cineform codec?

7D H264 transcode to mpg 1 intra frame HD 100Mbit worked fine. Export to H264 (quicktime wrapped) works on my setup.

Taking Native clips to LW's DVCPro100 works - not very well... but it does work.

I use Cineform Codecs for a number of reason... and, was hoping that LW used Cineform... and, I am still not certain it doesn't work with Cineform since one poster seems to have gotten it to work.

Cineform is the only thing that works. Nativ 550d Material dosen't work. Just installed the demo of cineform neo 4k and its fast. I like it.
