Third party effects availible for Lightworks 3 years, 10 months ago #155

Hi, was browsing the web and i found these effects:

Effects that work
Pete warden after effects (as suggested by hammerhead)
Still in need of a test
Revisionfx primere effects
Top Video Editing Effects According to About.com
144 After Effects Plug-Ins (thanks to SMPse)
New Blue Cartoonr effect
Free Frame effects
The Plugin Site<-might work, but might be very out dated
StevenGotz Plugins
Tool farm<-pretty much a big list of links to plugins for effects

Edit: I have started this list in hopes of finding, and helping others find third party effects that would be very useful in their editing process

Where is the Lightworks "plugin application" located--the one mentioned in the LW Guide? Or is this a plugin application associated with AE, Première etc? Do you have to have AE or Première on your system first in order to make use of say Peter Warder's free AE plugins in LW?

Good question. In EDIUS we have the so called "bridges" - AAE and VST. It's sufficient to define the path to filters directly. We are not expected to have AE or any Steinberg software installed.

@shaunthesheep

Just put your plugins here;

Windows 7: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Lightworks\Plugins
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Lightworks\Plugins

You then have a new category in your 'Add Effects' video dropdown menu, e.g. 'Pete's Plugins'.

Plus i wouldn't think you would "have" to have the zed program the plugin is from just to install it. If i remember correctly, it says somewhere explicitdly(sorry for the spelling), "third party plugins allowed" and that sounds like third party from what i know. When i hopefully get a new computer this christmas, i'll start looking for some plugins again unless others want to post some i can add to the list, i plan on using this anyway for school, and for other personal things. I'd hope maybe if i get to be a better programmer somewhere in the near future even try helping out, but i will stick to plugins for quite awhile...

Re: Effects availible for Lightworks 3 years, 10 months ago #3139

Just tried using Pete Warden's open source AE plug-ins in LW and had some problems. See my post in the Bugs section:

I've got to hand it to you, that's a pretty extensive list of effects!

Hi
I see that you have included freeframe plugins.
How can they be used in LW ?

I've tried Pete's freeframe host for after effect, but it makes LW crash very
often. Is there another way?

Thanks a lot

Re: Effects availible for Lightworks 3 years, 10 months ago #3292

That just might be a bug, i'd report it. It also depends specs on your computer, try seeing what they can say there, i've yet to try them since the computer i'm on right now is my moms since mine isn't worthy to handle lightworks since it won't stay on, and screen is messed up. Lightworks runs and all, but i don't know how well it would run once i start putting stuff on it like effects...

As you are talking of FreeFrame. Is FreeFrameGL (Version 1.5) planned for the future?

I have no idea, i'm not involved in that i'm just a user trying to compile a list of usable effects
