I've always liked the comments in this thread. They're a little off track from the original idea. I'm rereading this due to the new comment.
I don't care much for credentials, who's using what. Lightworks is just a tool. I assume Editshare intends to make it the industry standard for NLE's. That's fine, it's still just a tool. All the hype in the world isn't going to make a better tool. If you wander around my neighborhood and take a peek inside each garage, you'll see lot's of tools. (Not that I recommend the action.) Tools who's cost/benefit ratios are way out whack for the owners. People buy them because they look like they'll do the job. Besides, power tools are cool. Hype.
Now, what makes a tool an industry "standard" to the pro? That's the question. I know from my experiences what qualities I expect from professional quality tools. I expect the tool to be dependable, robust, comfortable to use, and powerful enough to get the job done. That's what puts tools in the hands of pros.
