TOPIC: beginner, can I edit ripped blu rays with this program?

beginner, can I edit ripped blu rays with this program? 1 year, 2 months ago #20150

sorry for ignorant question. I want to rip blu ray discs to my computer and edit them, will that work with this program? I haven't purchased a blu ray drive for my computer yet. I'm concerned that it won't work, it doesn't seem to recognize a ripped dvd saved as a .vob file

So let me get this straight. You're a "guy on the internet" who we don't know who's asking us to provide help in stealing someone else's property.

Fine.

Haha excuse me? stealing someone else's property? I'm interested in ripping blu rays THAT I BOUGHT AND PAID FOR and creating FAN EDITS. I came across this program and was hoping that the more tech savvy could tell if this program was capable of that.

Fan edits may well be considered as benign/reasonable usage by some while the copyright owner of the material might strongly disagree!

Buying a DVD/Blu-Ray of a film endows upon you zero rights in respect to copying/altering/redistributing/sampling by any means of the copyrighted material on the disc. It does grant you the right to play and view the material on the disc, generally in a non-commercial private environment.

LW does not load the DVD VOB format nor Blu-Ray M2TS files

What RWAV said. You're likely to find a few who respond that way here. I've been on the receiving end of this issue myself, having edited a movie that on its release had massive downloads and great feedback - all from pirate sites. The return to the production company was not enough to repay the investors. I dare say others here can tell similar stories.

By buying the DVD or BluRay you own the physical hardware on which the program is recorded. You do not own the intellectual property and you have absolutely no right to use it to create other content unless by prior arrangement with the copyright holder(s).

It's very simple. Contact the copyright owner, ask them what their terms are for you to use their material in this way. If you comply with those terms, you can do it. If you don't, you're infringing their copyright.
