I want to creat a Trailer for a project. It should be start with music and some text on the screen.

I can put the sound in my project. But how can I show the text on the video if no video is imported?

Did you try without Video in V1?
When this not work you have to create black or import some video.

Right click on the New Edit tool and select "Create video black (5 mins)". This will give you black video you can add to your timeline and can add titles over.

As Erik said, you need to create a black video clip. To do this, right-click on the "New Edit" tool and select "Create video black". Add the new tile that this creates to your edit and then apply the Title effect.

Surely the LW titler would be better if it created its own blank background (ie transparent), so user can select the colour, opacity, etc.
(Thus any vid/still shows through... as req'd)

Recently I saw a technique where the titles (with audio mix) were routed arround two or more cutouts (each with a vid), - you could look at what "you thought" was important, - the other box showing detail of the event from another perspective.

I hope I can use titles on the Basic version, or do I go back to Windows Live MM? That is terrible, but has titles, of sorts. e.g. "My Holiday" with some jolly music, crashing waves, cue: seagulls, etc.
