Their seems to be a trend in Lightworks, It adopted the shortcut keys from Avid and Final Cut and it became more normal and like other other editing programs. So why does it not have a normal interface like the other NLE's? Do they have to be different from everyone else? Does having their Awkward interface make them cooler? To me its awkward and hard to get the hang of. I mean why not have a normal timeline like that of Final Cut or Premiere?

When I first started using Lightworks nearly twenty years ago now, its user interface allowed me to be earning money within half an hour of sitting in front of it for the first time. Whether it's "normal" or no, it's fast to learn and use if you don't try to drive it like an Avid or FCP.

"Normal" is what you're used to. If you were used to Lightworks and moved to Final Cut, FC would be very definitely abnormal.

Well, as a Premiere user, let me say that if Lightworks looked like Premiere and behave the same way, I just wouldn't spent the last seven months of my life here at this forum.
Why to try a software that replicates everything I already know how to do in my current NLE? Where do the challenge reside?
If LW offers to us the Avid and FC keyboard interfaces is to ease up our learning curve, not because these preferences are better.
What would be the reason Thelma Schoonmaker and other renowned film editors would choose a program with an awkward interface if it were not the best choice for their purposes?
Lightworks is not a new NLE on the market, it is a legend in the film industry for the last two decades.
Give yourself the chance to learn something different than anything you are used to...open your mind, and at the end you' ll see that LW is not only one of the best storytelling tools, but you also will be able to write in your resume that there's no interface awkward enough to prevent you from get a job done.

Fear of the unknown?
Lightworks interface will be your best friend in no time. Last week when using Avid again, it didn't look or feel as good as it used to. So after spending some time with Lightworks and you become familiar with it's interface and behaviour, everything else will look and behave awkward...

I've been a Premier Pro user for years. Lightworks has been a bit of a challenge to learn, I've had to change my whole outlook about editing, but to go back it is now a bit strange. Too many menus to go through to get the job done, and it just does not seem to flow as well.
