so, as far as I can tell, is LW only compatible with recorded media? What If I wanted to edit a video file from...say, Youtube or something? Would I have to record it on a camera to be able to import it? Also, are MP4 files compatible with LW?

If you come to Spain some day, you can claim a couple of beers and a dish of "jamón".

Thanks for the VirtualDub tip, I'm downloading it now.

A good temporary fix, but I hope there's someone working on expanding the list of codexes.

They already have and it's been announced in the May 28 subscription release. Check out the announcements at the head of the forums.

Just remember: the current release is beta software only, and as such has very limited codec support. Editshare have never pretended otherwise.

I'm trying to figure out if Lightworks is feasible for me to use in the long term.

I use several different cameras, and even some high-speed (to play back in slow motion), so without this feature, the software is pretty useless to me - sure I can use another program to re-render the files in a compatible frame-rate, but in that case, I could use some other program (currently I use Vegas) to edit my videos without the need to re-render most of my files before editing.

Does anyone know if Lightworks will, sometime in the future, be able to import files with different frame rates than the project settings?
