Hmm.. h264 supported in Pro version?

3 months in as "pro" and I still cannot import the files I want without LW going green/black or crashing. (On small projects the import might work)
Plus the issue with no sound on h264 mp4 export. (You could argue and say that h264 export works I guess, because its a video codec, only that if you want it you will not have any sound)

Am I the only one having these issues? Or is h264 simply not "yet" supported in pro version?

I just imported two MP4 files made with a GOPRO camera. I think it is h264 codec.
I can link it but it play not smooth when I link it. I can translate it also. Then it play smooth with audio. The tranlation for 40 min. material takes 65 min.
I am in LW v 11.0.2.c Beta.
Next release comes soon and with 64 bit.

In my opinion, LW is a professional NLE, H.264 in a consumer codec. My 'prosumer' camera shoots AVCHD which is a 'flavour' of H.264 and although it will import and edit in LW Pro, I still prefer to transcode my best takes to ProRes or DNxHD.

PS: I'm currently beta testing a new free app from fellow LW enthusiast Wayne Norton called Advanced Workflow Utility. AWU quickly batch transcodes several file formats to the broadcast quality codecs ProRes or DNxHD. Wayne's new tool can also automatically rename files as well as insert reel numbers and timecode for a professional workflow from consumer cameras. It is only 'moments' away from release.

Hi Erik,
I'm also an owner of a GoPro and before I edit my video footage (I've only tried 720p), I transcode the mp4 files with GoPro Cineform to a Mov file and then import it in LW. With this way I haven't had any problems yet. (this also works in LW Free)

As said, small projects might work. Even cineform transcoded clips fail show after import when reaching "some" limit. Have you tried to work with a project in the 200 clip region?

I did not. I only translated 2 files of 23 min. with audio in a project with other material.
But when you tranlate it to files where for LW I don't see why it not work.
