But your suggestion is also pretty weird, to say the least. We are trying to build up a community here, if I am not mistaken. Unless people are being offensive and mean, I don't see a reason for censorship.
Weird to me is keep beating a dead horse in a fruitless discussion where the only thing administrators can reply are variations of "We are not ready to discuss this yet because we don't know how we are going to do it or are not ready to talk about it yet and we will come back to it when the time comes." This is what's weird, counter productive, causes fruitless angered debates, waste bandwidth, divide and diverges moderator's attention from more valid topics dealing with current problems and divides the community over something which at the moment is totally pointless. Don't know about you but to me this doesn't seem exactly conductive to building a community.
You should realize I'm not the one yelling GPL all the time pointlessly, I believe I raised some valid and constructive points, in an otherwise pointless forum topic, in reply to a detailed long admin post. You think I am the one who deserve to be attacked for doing that, while I always kept trying to stop all the Linux zealots trolling around here. And your answer to such things is calling for censorship. Umm, ok.
First, I didn't attack you. It wasn't an attack at all and if you see it that way it's your own problem and says more about you than about me. Second it wasn't directed at you or anybody in particular. I never mentioned or quoted you in my original post. I replied to this thread in response to all the BS, accusations and self entitlement that has been going on on these forums regarding open source.
Third, censorship? Really? You really want to go there? You should look up the meaning of the word before using it.
I never said the discussion should be eradicated. I proposed it be delayed till it's actually time to decide, in order to avoid the wasted heated debates that have been taking place. To give some order and to stop this chaotic open source ranting trend that has been going on around here. It's everywhere! It's out of control and it's becoming annoying and is going nowhere.
This is a private company's forum and they have the right to have policies. It has nothing to do with censorship. Also other members of this forum have the right to voice their opinion if they think these so called discussions are being counter productive.
If you don't know the real meaning of censorship you should look it up. Or don't, and keep hiding behind the "freedom of speech" flag so you can call out "censorship" anytime things aren't going your way.
