TOPIC: [SOLVED] LIGHTWORKS CONSTANTLY CRASHES

Re: [SOLVED] LIGHTWORKS CONSTANTLY CRASHES 2 years, 1 month ago #8718

If you see a message saying :

Warning: Failed to open error log

then Lightworks is unable to either create the 'Logs' folder in Users\Public\Documents\Lightworks or error.log in Users\Public\Document\Lightworks\Logs. Either way, it sounds like some kind of Windows permissions problem. If Lightworks is unable to create files, then it will also fail to import media, which could account for the other problems that you are experiencing.

@aaviqa. It would help others to assist you if you added your OS version and relevant hardware to your forum profile signature. Do you have administrator privileges on Windows?

There is a anti virus software running (Office scan) but i cant turn it off as im here at work and its locked

This single sentence makes me guess, you're trying to install & run LW in a very customized network environment, which you can't control fully. This is not suitable for current LW beta at all, I guess. LW needs to be installed & run on a single workstation PC with real local Windows installation, on this PC's Administrator account at best or on an account belonging to this PC's Administrators group at least, with full administrative privileges. Also, it shouldn't be any AV or security software running and LW expects to be run with nearly exclusive access to the system resources, like memory, CPUs, storage and graphic subsystems.

Pity about that. Since I started this thread I have managed, with the assistance of this online community, to start accessing the power of this amazing software.

Please keep an open mind about Lightworks, so that once the official release is announced you could come back and try again.

Go well.
