RayM, I think that where this has gone off the rails is when you reported bugs that none of the rest of us have experienced.

For example, since its first release in the early 1990s Lightworks has used a concept of temporary and permanent assets. If you have clips in a temporary bin and you close that bin those clips can appear to vanish. They are not really gone, and a quick search will restore them.

often edits and timelines just disappear from the project, (while editing them, while working on another edit, while doing nothing)

Well that hasn't ever been my experience beginning with some very flaky early releases in the early '90s, and up to the current beta. It would be helpful to know your methodology, because as it stands that just sounds wrong.

one day I tried a simple joining of 2 clips with a dissolve between them and the edit/timeline disappeared 7 times...I was on edit#7 when I finally finished

Again it would be helpful to know your methodology was and what your operating environment is. What other programs did you have running? What background tasks? Are you running it under some form of emulator? Because again, this does not match my experience.

And no, I'm not in any way connected with Editshare. But Lightworks was my first NLE and I honestly can't equate the Lightworks that I know with the scenarios that you describe.

If I am given a free program I consider it my duty to show gratitude and
return something to the creators by testing it and reporting bugs and issues.

Yes, definitely I test things more than the average user would
and so come across issues that the average user doesn't.
And I tend to put the software through somersaults and loops
that the average user would never dream of.

But if you choose to deny or make up excuses
for the bugs then so be it.

If you want to censor reports then so be it.

That just tells me a lot about the project.

Well and your posts just tells me that the error is most likely in between your computer and your desk chair.

Honestly, I've been editing long form Full HD with lossless codecs for several months now in Lightworks and have never experienced the bugs you mention. I truly believe you should learn how to use the program before you start complaining. How many times have you read the manual?
Now showing an attitude is a really good way to get people to help you.

Do you seriously consider you post as an appropriate way to show gratitude? Or as a helpful bug report? Come on...

You seem to consider yourself as an experienced beta tester, however you didn't provide any clue about how to reproduce those issues you found, neither did you give the slightest info about your system's hardware and software environment. I hope you realize that saying "it doesn't work" is not a very helpful bug report.

No wonder people assume that your post was not born out of generosity. Also, there are very experienced editors here. If they tell you you are doing it wrong, you better believe them.
