Yes, that is exactly my problem. On a 17" it doesn't really matter that much, but on a 24" display the difference between normal setting and big setting seems huge.

Fixed sizes are easier to deal with, think 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 resolution. When you drag them to fit then you have a lot more math to deal with to get the image to look decent.

If that is true than let me state that I regard performance/speed as one of the most important things about an NLE. Thus, if flexible viewer sizes would decrease performance, then Editshare has my blessing for not supporting it.

However, I would still appreciate an extra setting in between medium and big...

It all depends of what are you using viewers for. I surely don't use them for real preview or reference view for anything. It's just a tool to tell you at what point you are actually, nothing more. As such, it's completely unimportant for me if they're freely scalable or fixed 3-step. And performance/speed is the premium factor for me also.

I aggree, Being the pig for screen real estate I find using a third display for LW output works for me. The 3 size options are fine. Perhaps we are too used to the FCP's and Avids of the world.

Well, one can use F12/Full Screen Preview even on a single display...

Avid almost requires a second or third monitor, they go to some lengths to make the live preview out a default for each project.

I love the fullscreen option.

AVID resizes without performance drop and even seems to be rendering frames faster than any other NLE I know of. But AVID's viewers have issues of their own.

They do have (better) configuration options for the fullscreen feature though. But that's outside the scope of this topic.
