This latest version of Lightworks includes some impressive features and changes since 11.1.1. The full list including an explanation can be seen below. Instructions for submitting feedback can be found on the Windows or Linux Beta downloads pages.

  • Added third tile size to tiles in bins. Small, Medium and Large

  • Added Sync Group improvements, a record edit can now be synced with the sync group
  • Added the ability to replace segments with alternate clips by right clicking (for edits made from sync-groups)
  • Added new keybindable commands for choosing next/prev alternate clips (for edits made from sync-groups)
  • Added ability to replace segments with alternate clips by dragging and dropping a tile from the sync group to the edit viewer (for edits made from sync-groups)
  • Added ability to generate a random edit based on users settings from the sync group
  • Removed the sync-group tool. Choosing 'Create sync-group' from the bin menu now displays a panel which lets you specify sync-group details before creating one (eg. sync to timecode, tile size, etc)
  • The 'list permanent sync-groups' command has moved to the bin tool cogs menu
  • Removed the Calculator tool. This can now be accessed from the cogs menu of the labels panel
  • Removed the Video Analysis tool. This can now be accessed from the viewers cogs menu
  • Removed Cutlist tool and merged it with the export tool
  • Removed Manage Media Location tool and merged it with the Project Card
  • Removed Project Contents bin creation from project card. This can now be found by right clicking the Bin tool
  • Moved "back to project browser" function to the top left of the screen next to the project card (no longer in the toolbox)
  • Added ability to change the field order on SD clips using the Filecard
  • Added background export. Background tasks now appear on the Tasks tab of the Project Card
  • Added generating audio waveforms as a background task
  • Added 'bounds' to the corner gradient effect
  • Added "Auto" frame rate project generation. New projects set to "Auto" will not have a defined frame rate until the first clip is imported
  • Introduced User Interface changes
    • Introduced sharp corners on all panels removing curved edges
    • Introduced playback controls to source and edit viewers (Currently not on by default. Click the Preferences tool and change Playback controls to: On each viewer)
    • Added magnetic snapping on all panels (this can be turned off in System Settings)

    • Right click a Clip, Edit, Subclip, Sync, Print, Bin and select Export
    • Right click a Clip in the edit timeline and select Add Effect
    • Right click a Transition to replace an existing transition with another

  • Added System Settings button on the project browser screen.
    • Change the appearance of Lightworks. Scale, Window Colour, Text colour, Heading Colour, Subheading Colour, Selection Colour, Brightness, Typeface and Wallpaper image (Pro version only)
    • Change the Wording within Lightworks. This option is no longer available from the Preferences menu within the project
    • Change the Key Assignments. This option is still available from the Preferences menu within the project
    • Change the OS title bar. This option is no longer available from the Preferences menu within the project
    • Change whether or not Hints are displayed or not . This option is no longer available from the Preferences menu within the project
    • Hardware output tests. This option is no longer available from the Project card within the project
    • GPU Tests. This option is no longer available from the Project card within the project

  • Changed default media location to: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Lightworks folder (this avoids any Windows permissions issues, removing the need to start once as Administrator)
  • Merged "Make sychroniser" function with the "Auto synchronise" function on Bins (Make sychroniser option has now been removed from the edits menu)
  • Removed constraint on media locations in the Free versions. Free users can now specify where their media folders are stored
  • Removed the Record button from clip sources
  • Added ability to Insert/Replace a source into a record edit if one is not open (a record edit will automatically be opened and the source Inserted/Replaced)
  • Fixed viewer/timeline positions
  • Fixed Vectorscope analysis
  • Fixed output monitor incorrectly cycling through each of the clips in the sync group when pressing Stop
