Lightworks is a product developed by EditShare. It is distributed as a commercial software and is moving towards open source.
Third-party dependencies and licences
In order to provide such a comprehensive software package, Lightworks incorporates various third-party technologies.
EditShare wishes to acknowledge and thank the following development teams and organizations.
FFmpeg is a complete solution to record, convert and stream audio and video. It includes libavcodec, the leading audio/video codec library. FFmpeg is developed under Linux, but it can compiled under most operating systems, including Windows.
Lightworks uses libraries of FFmpeg under the LGPL v2.1. [Libraries used: avcodec.lib, swscale.lib, avformat.lib]
FFmpeg is a trademark of Fabrice Bellard, originator of the FFmpeg project.

OpenSSL is an open source toolkit implementing the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL v2/v3) and Transport Layer Security (TLS v1) protocols as well as a full-strength general purpose cryptography library.
Lightworks uses code from the OpenSSL project to provide support for SSL encrypted connections.
