The GatherlinkTM technology allows vidIP to transmit broadcast quality video over standard access lines like xDSL. It sums the bitrate of each single access line, reaching a global bitrate compatible with broadcast standards.
The incoming video stream is first packetized using RTP and it is split into stream fragments across multiple network links and paths to the destination. At the destination point, the stream fragments are reassembled, equal to the original stream, with perfect quality guaranteed and no signal degradation. In this specific multi-link environment, GatherlinkTM also guarantees IP jitter cancellation, packet reordering, duplicate packet deletion and low end-to-end latency.
This technology provides all vidIP equipment with the unique ability to transmit broadcast quality video over inexpensive network links like xDSL. vidIP remains transparent to network support as long as it is IP or Ethernet compatible. Therefore, vidIP can cope with any mix of powerful (but expensive) infrastructure, for example fiber optics, and any customer access line like xDSL, IP over cable...
GatherlinkTM is at the heart of most of the customer benefits, especially lower costs, enhanced video network reach and density, and improved transmission reliability and robustness.
This technology was developed by the vidIP research and development team.
